SWINE FLU - 17th August, 2009
Dear Parents,
We are constantly looking for ways to make our school environment as safe from viruses as possible. As recommended by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare we have been looking for products containing Benzalkonium Chloride for cleaning and sanitization purposes.
We were approached by Indovax a Gurgaon based company with more than 20 years experience in manufacturing anti-viral and anti-bacterial vaccines for the poultry industry. They manufacture products with the desired combinations for floor mopping and hand sanitization. They also have a set of disinfectant products which successfully bring down viral and bacterial counts in poultry yards which are filled with infectious faecal matter.
From their range of disinfectant products (collectively called biocides) we have selected two for use in our school for mopping and hand sanitization. The product selected for mopping is called GLUTOL EXTRA. The product for hand sanitization is called DDAC. The quantity to be added to water is 5ml/litre in both cases. For hand sanitization DDAC could be kept in wide open vessels or in spray bottles after dilution. Click on the links below to get a brief description about these products and to read the Clinical Management Protocol and Infection Control guidelines provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.

While we will start implementing this at the school immediately to make the environment as free of viruses as possible, you may wish to maintain continuity at home by using the same products. If you wish to do so, the school will be able to procure one litre packs by placing an order with the company on your behalf at the rate of Rs.546 for GLUTOL EXTRA and Rs.250 for DDAC as it not available in the market. You can place your orders with Mr. Jenson Khosla in the Junior School office.
I am sure we will be able to create a healthier environment for our children both in school and at home.
Warm regards,
Arun Kapur
