The 21st Vasant Valley School English Debate for the India Today Cup

The 21st Vasant Valley School English Debate for the India Today Cup was held on Thursday, 7th November and Friday, 8th November, 2019 at Vasant Valley School, New Delhi. The debate brings together students from various backgrounds with a common passion for intellectual stimulation and provides them with a formal forum to argue for what they believe in.

Over the course of two days, students from over 30 schools debated, challenging established beliefs pertaining to social and political domains by engaging with a variety of thought provoking motions. At the end of each round, constructive feedback was given to the debaters by esteemed adjudicators.

Participants from the NCR included students of The Shri Ram School, Moulsari and Aravali, Sanskriti School, Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan, Delhi Public School,Vasant Kunj, Step By Step School, Noida, New Era Public School, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, Bluebells School International, Tagore International School, Shiv Nadar School, Noida, Vasant Valley School and many more.

The debate also brought together participants from across the country including students from La Martiniere College for Boys, Lucknow, Modern High School for Girls, Kolkata, Cathedral and John Connon School, Mumbai, Vivek High School, Chandigarh, The Doon School, Dehradun, Neerja Modi School, Jaipur, Mayo College Boys and Girls, Ajmer, Sherwood College, Nainital, Sishya School, Chennai, Mallya Aditi, Bengaluru, and GEMS Modern Academy, Dubai.

The Vasant Valley School Team comprised of Advaya Gulati, Vedika Bagla and Rishnav Thadani and managed to compete till the Semi Finals. 

The final round was between The Shri Ram School, Moulsari and Mallya Aditi School, Bangalore.

The Motion for the final round was: This house believes that political differences should not affect interpersonal relationships.

Mallya Aditi School, Bangalore, was the winner of the India Today Cup.
