Economics Symposium for Classes 11 and 12

14 July 2022

This year’s Economics Symposium saw students from Classes 11 and 12 exhibit their research abilities and riveting presentations on one of the following chosen topics:

  1. Challenges to Cracking the Code

On paper, India’s economy has had a banner year…but the rosy headline figures do not reflect reality for hundreds of millions of Indians.

On our way to building a robust economy, what are the issues you foresee India facing, and how can the government overcome these?

  1. These days people don’t buy for logical reasons, they buy for emotional reasons.

“Behavioural economics should complement, not substitute for, more substantive economic interventions.”

Given the present global scenario, analyse and explain consumer behaviour and its impact on different economies in the near-to-medium term.

It was held on Thursday, July 14th, 2022 and a total of 26 students across 8 teams participated. It was judged by Vasant Valley alumni Advaya Gulati and Anahita Mahajan.

The results are as follows:

1st Place: Mehek Anand, Sukriti Jain, Samaira Tomer (Class 12)

2nd Place: Darsh Puri, Sara Jayakumar, Varenya Shrikhande (Class 11) AND Aryan Agarwal, Aryan Goyal, Advaita Sehgal, Siddhant Nagrath (Class 12)

We are grateful to our alumni, Ishaan Gupta (Class of 2006), Medha Vira Gupta (Class of 2009) and Samvid Gupta (Class of 2010) for their generous support in creating the website.
