On the 19th and 20th of November, 2022, Vasant Valley School held its first ever Sports Carnival- an event that is bound to become a much-loved tradition among everyone present. The school plunged into an array of colors, with the signature blue, red, green, and yellow standing out. The trees, shaded with different hues and the center stage sporting a life-sized logo of #VasantValley created the perfect ambience (and photo-op!). Wherever one turned there was a dash of color- either children running to participate in the games or the dedicated players out on the field, hitting sixes to win the match. True to its name, the carnival featured myriad sports such as cricket, football, and basketball. Even the beloved one kilometer run and tug of war were featured. Enthusiastic and hopeful of their house scoring a goal, a basket, or getting a wicket, the students of Vasant Valley cheered on from the sidelines.
The junior school field was flooded with food stalls; from Kylin to Keventers and many more, the delicacies were savored by all. The game stalls, hosted by the parents and students of all classes, managed to capture everybody’s attention. Everywhere you looked there were wheels spinning and people celebrating as they won hearts and prizes with their precise aim. The longing to win the best prize in the stall brought out everyone’s competitive spirit. Music filled the air with fulfilling energy; the electrified screams of joy and excitement from the onlookers in the stalls reverberated through our beloved field.
This unprecedented involvement of the parents, students, alumni and faculty—alone made this event vastly different from all its predecessors. The carnival was an immaculate display of togetherness, passion and community; a testament to the values Vasant Valley is built on. As one walked through the familiar beige gates, greeted by all the colours, the pride and honour of being a part of this institution could not have come at a better time, just as school turned 33!
