Dr. Meghna Agarwala, Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies at the Ashoka University was the guest speaker.
The audience included students and teachers from around 13 schools across the country along with the students of classes 7 to 11 and staff members of Vasant Valley School.
The talk revolved around various causes of environmental pollution and the possible solutions to prevent it, with the Air Pollution in Delhi as the case study. It was an eye-opener as to how different factors contribute to air pollution – vehicular emissions, industries and power plants, crop residue burning, construction dust, landfills and fireworks, which are present throughout the year and have a compounded effect during the winter months of October to January due to temperature inversion.
